Kyoto in Autumn
Kyoto,

Chasing maple season through quiet temples, lantern-lit alleys, and slow mornings in Gion.
Where the city slows down
Kyoto in November feels like the whole city exhales. The maples turn impossible shades of red, and even the busiest shrines hold a kind of stillness in the early light. I spent most mornings walking before the crowds arrived.
Gion at dusk was the highlight — paper lanterns flickering on, the smell of grilled street food, and the occasional glimpse of a geiko hurrying to an appointment. I ate far too much matcha and regretted none of it.
A few favourite moments
Climbing through the endless torii gates at Fushimi Inari at sunrise, then warming up with a bowl of udon. If you go, give yourself more days than you think you need.
